Have You Made Your Time For Your Business Development?

At an “impromptu” seminar I led recently, I met husband and wife business partners.  From Rob’s comments, it seems Lisa dragged him to this seminar kicking and screaming.  When I spoke about putting free time into our calendars first, otherwise free time might never happen, Rob said:  “This is my free time!” … but now he was working!  (Was he dragged there?)  “So when will you have today’s free time?”

As too frequently happens, when something comes up that conflicts with our free time or, equally important, business development time, business owners simply let the free or business development time disappear.  Instead:  When you can only do a certain task on a day when you normally spend a few hours working on your business – focusing on the developments you want to make in your business – go ahead and do the task.  After all, doing the task is important & since that day is the only day it can be done, it’s now urgent.  It’s a Quadrant I activity in the Quadrants of Time. 

Don’t be like Harry, though.  Only able to do the task during business development time on Thursday morning, in our coaching session the following week Harry said he felt totally out-of-control … and feeling the same as before we started focusing on strengthening, improving & growing his business.

So when was Harry hoping to complete this task?  When would Rob have hoped to attend a seminar that is now helping them strengthen, improve and grow their business?  Harry: Wednesday afternoon.  Rob: Tuesday morning.  All they needed to do was move Harry’s business development time and Rob’s “me” time into those other days.  Simple as that!

So many business owners get so caught up putting out fires, being disorganized, tolerating poor performance from your teams, twisting yourselves into pretzels to “try” to please customers … all while flying by the “seat-of-your-pants,” that you can’t see the forest for the trees.

You, too, can triple your sales in 10 months … even quadruple your sales in less than 2 years.  You, too, can map out the route to a RETIREMENT that’ll be ready & waiting for you, should you ever decide to take it.  And simply focusing on increasing the FUN FACTOR … by making some simple adjustments … will naturally result in increased PROFIT flowing, along the path of least resistance, into your business.  Simple as that!
